Sam Rubin, a journalist from the Today show, unexpectedly passes away at the age of 64

Rubin passed away at his residence on Friday following his usual morning segment on the US TV network KTLA. Reports indicate he experienced a heart attack.

Entertainment reporter Sam Rubin has passed away at the age of 64.

The station announced his passing on Saturday morning Australian time, honoring him as a prominent figure in the local news industry and entertainment realm.

“His laughter, charm, and compassionate personality left a lasting impact on all who crossed paths with him,” it stated.

Rubin also served as a correspondent on Nine’s Today show and Today Extra.

Today's entertainment reporter and friend, Richard Wilkins, expressed that the entertainment world mourns the loss of one of its finest colleagues and cherished friends.

"For the past two decades or so, he has been a part of our family, primarily through the Today show and Today Extra," Wilkins shared with the Weekend Today show.

"But whenever significant stories unfolded, Sam was our reliable expert."
